Please Note – Natural Timber Characteristics

This is a trade grade natural softwood product. Timber is not a manufactured material and every board will vary in appearance.

Knots are a normal and acceptable characteristic of Scandinavian Redwood decking. In accordance with recognised timber decking industry guidance, sound/stable knots (sometimes referred to as live knots) are acceptable within treated softwood decking and should not automatically be considered a defect.

Boards may also naturally display:

- Variations in knot size and frequency

- Grain and colour variation

- Natural resin or resin around knots

- Small surface checks or drying splits

- Minor variations in texture and appearance

- Natural movement as the timber adjusts to changing moisture levels and weather conditions

These characteristics are inherent to natural softwood and, where they do not compromise the structural integrity or intended use of the board, are not considered product defects.

Loose or unstable/dead knots, significant through-splits or damage which makes a board unsuitable for its intended use are treated differently.

Installation Tip: As with all natural timber decking, boards should be inspected and positioned before fixing. Installers will commonly select the best face/orientation of each board and cut around any localised natural imperfections where required.
